The 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander is a full lineup in itself — not just one vehicle. Six grades span gas and hybrid powertrains, and the gap between the entry XLE and the top-end Platinum Hybrid MAX is wide enough that buyers moving through the lineup are essentially choosing different levels of driver-assist technology and connectivity, not just different finishes. If you want to know exactly where each feature enters the lineup, this guide maps it out grade by grade.
Every Grand Highlander shares a common safety foundation, but what separates the grades involves features that directly affect how much the vehicle does for you while driving.
Before examining what changes, here is what every 2026 Grand Highlander delivers regardless of grade:
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) is standard across the lineup. The system includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beam, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The Blind Spot Monitor System with Safe Exit Assist, Parking Support Brake, and trailer sway warning system are also standard on all grades.
Connectivity includes the Toyota Multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a wireless charging dock, and three-zone automatic climate control. Every Grand Highlander is AWD as standard equipment.
The Grand Highlander XLE (gas, 8-passenger) opens the lineup. The Toyota Multimedia system runs on a 12.3-inch touchscreen backed by Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect. Audio is a 6-speaker system. Interior instrumentation includes a 7-inch multi-information display.
Safety on the XLE includes TSS 3.0 and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert system. The Panoramic View Monitor and the enhanced Rear Cross Traffic Alert with brake are not included at this grade — those features appear on the Limited and above. Power accessories include a standard power rear door.
The 2026 Grand Highlander Limited is the first grade that includes the full comfort and technology package. Drive Connect is added to the Toyota Multimedia system, and audio upgrades to an 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio system. The multi-information display grows to 12.3 inches.
At this grade, several safety and convenience features enter the lineup for the first time:
Comfort upgrades include leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a driver's seat memory system, a panoramic moonroof, a 120V power outlet, LED fog lights, and illuminated entry lights. The second-row bench seat is replaced by captain's chairs, dropping capacity from eight to seven passengers but improving access to the third row.
The Hybrid XLE and Hybrid Limited mirror their gas counterparts on features, with the addition of Toyota's hybrid-electric powertrain. The hybrid system is built around a 2.5 L 4-cylinder Dynamic Force engine paired with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, producing 243 system horsepower. Manufacturer-estimated combined fuel consumption is 7.0 L/100 km, and towing capacity is rated at 3,500 lbs (1,588 kg).
The Hybrid XLE seats eight and delivers the same technology package as the gas XLE. The Hybrid Limited seats seven and carries the same feature upgrades as the gas Limited.

The Platinum Hybrid MAX is where the Grand Highlander's driver-assist and technology package reaches its full extent. Four features are exclusive to this grade and unavailable elsewhere in the lineup:
Traffic Jam Assist monitors the vehicle ahead in stop-and-go conditions, providing steering, braking, and acceleration support at low speeds.
Lane Change Assist helps initiate and complete lane changes on the highway by detecting traffic in adjacent lanes.
Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA) monitors crossing traffic in front of the vehicle — particularly useful in parking lots and at intersections.
Digital Rearview Mirror replaces the conventional interior mirror with a camera feed display, providing a clear rear view unobstructed by passengers or cargo.
Additional exclusive features on the Platinum Hybrid MAX include a Head-Up Display (HUD), paddle shifters, multi-terrain select with dial knob, heated and ventilated second-row seats, and suede leather interior accents. The powertrain is Toyota's Hybrid MAX system, generating 362 system horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque through a 2.4 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Towing capacity is 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg).
