Under the hood, the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid houses a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, paired with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive; this powertrain provides a net output of 219 horsepower, that is 25 more than the previous version of the RAV4 Hybrid. The Outlander PHEV, for its part, features a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine of 117 horsepower and an electric powertrain; its net power has not been announced, but this Mitsubishi hybrid SUV has fuel consumption ratings of 9.4/9.0 L/100 km (city/highway). That’s way more than the RAV4 Hybrid, which delivers ratings of only 5.8/6.3 L/100 km! On top of this, the Toyota hybrid SUV is able to tow up to 1,750 pounds, which is more than the 2019 Outlander PHEV (1,500 pounds).
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid provides room for 5 occupants and their luggage thanks to its rear trunk that can contain 1,059 litres; that’s decidedly more than the Outlander PHEV, which can only fit 861 litres in its trunk. And even by folding down the rear seats, the Outlander is no match with its cargo volume of 1,886 litres, which is not enough to catch up to the RAV4 Hybrid (1,976 litres).
Numerous commodities also await you aboard the RAV4 Hybrid, such as heated seats and steering wheel, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a navigation system, wireless charging for smartphones and so much more.
Safety features such as the Pre-collision Safety System with Pedestrian Detection, the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert as well as a backup camera can also be found on board your RAV4 Hybrid.
